Governments all over the world, broke and bogged down by wars and their own poorly educated citizens, are seeming less and less capable of solving the major issues facing our world. Why? Governments are the ultimate anti-individual. No one person in government can get a law passed by themselves. (In most governments.) Don’t get me wrong, that’s a good thing, but I think we’re entering an era where governments aren’t the ones we have to – or should – depend on to get things done. Things like slowing climate change. That’s up to you, me, and apparently George Soros.
Why now? This. This user interface that lets two random nobodies with a tiny bit of free time contribute to a global conversation. (Granted we’re only getting about 30 hits a day so far – but in four hemispheres!)
The Internet is the UI that allows billions of people to function with the efficiency of a tribe. And it only functions on an individual level – in fact the more individuals, the better.
It’s the anti-government.
"Suck my hard drive, capitalism!"
(BTW we’re not anarchists. I’ve just always wanted to use the symbol someplace where it actually seemed relevant.)
The power of individuals (or at least individual billionaires)
